Hi. I’m Kai.

Growing up, I was the most traditional, classical violinist. One day, my mom, who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, sat me down and shared a long list regrets with ideas she hadn’t brought to the world. Her cancer went into remission, but the conversation inspired me to bring my own music to life, and it led me to a path where I’d perform at venues such as The White House, The Great Wall of China, Fashion Week in Milan, and with legends like Aretha franklin.

In 2014, this turned into an international speaking career. Also a product of Stanford University’s engineering school, I began inspiring leaders at Fortune 100 companies like Google, Disney, and Capital One to not just play the notes that we’ve been handed, but to write new music in their work. In this time, I wasn’t simply presenting, I was seeking to understand the hidden tensions that prevent professionals from adapting so I could also share a roadmap for my mom to use in her latter years.

Unfortunately this never happened because in 2023, she passed away of complications from Parkinson’s. A deep emptiness took over. She was the very reason I was speaking. It made me question: do I even want to take the stage anymore? But in her last days, I was deeply reconnected to the beauty and importance of centering the needs of those in pain. So, I decided the best way to honor her was by building a speaking experience that could center audiences with that same level of care.

A doctor can center a patient because they have a wide range of tools they select from based on situation. I realized centering audiences was not going to come from prepackaged takeaways, but by having an expansive toolkit that can respond to the intricate realities of the organization. This takes a lot of preparation. So, I did something most thought was a bit crazy. I abruptly stepped away from a lucrative speaking career and disappeared to a small farming town in New Zealand, where I lived in complete solitude, so I could focus solely on decoding my observations from working with hundreds of organizations.

I emerged from this experience with The Composer’s Toolkit: a comprehensive map of over 30 hidden forces preventing leaders from navigating change and uncertainty effectively. This prolific database allows me to offer a thought leadership experience that is 100% client-centric. Instead of prepackaged takeaways, I deeply listen to meeting planners so we can locate the specific pain-points that might make change feel difficult. Then, along with a mesmerizing original violin performance, I share musical metaphors that are tailor made to help your attendees to Compose Your World.
